I would like to announce my choice for the winner of The First Annual Rogue Bud Writing Competition in honor of Joel Muska. Congratulations Vivian "Kimi" Tozaki! You are my selection to be the Rogue Bud for 2010! I look forward to working together with Kimi on her book that is tentatively titled, "Un-Entitiled." Kimi is a Manhattan Attorney who has a heart to help young girls. I greatly look forward to helping Kimi to expand her vision and see her story become a published reality!

All of you were wonderful to work with and I sincerely appreciate the trust and determination that you have shown me throughout this process. It all goes back to my initial purpose for this contest in the first place. I wanted to honor a friend of mine for his hard work, determination to be the best that he could be, and to show my appreciation for his faithfulness as a loyal co-worker. Joel Muska is a wonderful man and I know that he would also be very proud of you all. This one's for you, Joel!

I never realized how hard it would be to sponsor a writing competition! I know first-hand the painful disappointment that having my own writing rejected brings. I have been told so many times that it's not personal. Well, tell the tears that they aren't mine either! My heart goes out to every one of you whom I did not select as the winner of this contest. If the Lord is willing, I will travel this road again... No one knows what the future will bring. For now, I'll complete what I have started! I'll be posting Kimi's book cover as soon as she and I know that we are on the same page with it! It's not in my heart to be over-bearing or a bully! A good rule of thumb for life in general is: We have to agree to agree, and even if we can't come to that happy place of agreement, we have to be respectful of our differences! I'm excited for what the future holds!

As I stated to each and every one of you in what had to be the hardest emails that I have ever sent... Never give up on your dreams!!!

  1. Congrats Vivian! I'm so happy for you, and I hope you the best as you work on your story with Ms. Rose!

I will admit I was disappointed, but I know that Ms. Audrey wouldn't choose someone she didn't think fit

Once again, congratulations on your win!

May God bless you in every-way! Thanks for letting me participate in your competition. Even though I didn't win I had a blast--it was so much fun-- and I definitely grew as a writer!

Can't wait to see the progress (so exciting)!

    Always,
    Julianna Del Vecchio

  3. You ladies are most gracious! Thank you so much for your participation and input throughout this competition. I'm going to be creating a Rogue Bud for Miss Kimi here very soon! (Vivian likes to go by her nickname of Kimi.) You will enjoy her writing. She has a nice blend of American and Japanese culture to offer. I'm excited to be pressing forward!

  4. Aw...thank you everyone for the congratulations, and thank you Rogue Rose for such an incredible opportunity. I promise not to disappoint you! Humbly, Vivian (oh, wait...hahaha...I should explain the name...my full name is Vivian Kimi Tozaki. I use both names...my parents always called me "Kimi" pronounced "Keyme," but my little sisters call me "Vivian"...so its your choice! Whichever you prefer... I like them both). I remember reading the snippets of submitted pieces and thinking, "wow, I don't have a chance..." so I'm truly humbled you guys...thank you so much. I do hope to be, at the very least, everyone's Facebook friend...pretty pleeease add me? Ok, this time I'm signing off for real...gotta get back to...WRITING! Big smile, Vivian (or Kimi, or Vivian Kimi or...Miss Kimi...or Miss Vivian...or...Mrs. Benjamin Franklin (I have a crush on him, I know, I know, he's dead and all, my friends give me a hard time about this...but still...he's my dream guy!)

  5. Congrats Kimi!
I am disapointed to not have won, but I guess it wasn't my turn this time. I will keep on writing though, fixing my mistakes so I won't do them again! Thank you Ms. Rose for the great opportunity, even if I didn't win! Once again, congrats Kimi and I wish you luck on your soon-to-be book!
